Master's meeting on the 25th July at Silverstone - car ran in testing ok - apart from usual handling problems - in the complex the car was bit of a pig.
Race was for 1966 - 1981 F1 cars - and the next oldest car apart from the Martin was a 71 DFV powered car - so it was never going to be competitive.
Was undecided as to whether to start the race - which I did in the end as I had some mates who came to see the car run - but after a mere 2 laps - I decided discretion was the better part of valour - and retired as I decided car was just dangerous and likely to be an unpredictable chicane!
After that disappointment - on 8th September went up to Snetterton to do some testing. The handling problems were investigated and I did some:
- spring changes
- camber changes
- tyre temp analysis
The above led to a slight improvement - more predictable - but still understeers like a pig - bit like an early 911 - but the sudden lift off transition to big oversteer has been greatly improved.
